@nutrientmix Seal the ends as much as you can so they can't get in... Buy a trap and relocate them when you catch them... There are mixes you can make and spread around the hoop house that will repel animals. Or you could just shoot the little invaders.... don't hit your hoop house. :-)

Thanks for all the tips! Building your own hoop house is a good option if you want to try growing in hydroponics outdoors. Another good thing about this setup is that it can be easily stored if you’re not using it. By the way, do you have any tips on how to deal with predators that might feast on the plants since the hoop house will be installed outdoors?

What a neat idea. I especially like how it is easy to tear down for storage.
A neat trick to provide night time heating in a greenhouse or hoop house, is to place water filled gallon containers in available space. For a larger greenhouse, simply line large nursery planters with trash bags and fill with water - works like a champ.

It is advisable to use a heavier gauge plastic if you are in a colder climate for added insulation and solar heating. Also, to get the end flaps to extend all the way to the ground, you can just drill a hole through the top of the plastic and fish the string through. This will allow the end plastic to fall as a solid 'flap' - which you can 'relief cut' along the hoop (and clamp it thereto with pvc clips). The rollup part should then work independently. I will experiment with this soon.
