The Synergy Jiu Jitsu kids program is designed to introduce kids to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a way that is fun and enjoyable. The emphasis is on the kids having a good time.

Many martial arts programs for kids stress strict discipline and even then, end up promoting techniques that are not useful outside the class. At Synergy we aim to give the kids specific skills, but we do it in a way that feels like fun and games for the kids - not boring, meticulous drilling and repetition; wait until they are adults to do that!

When you watch this video it will seem like a lot of chaos and noise - and it is! But the more noise the kids make, the more fun they are having. If all the screaming and anarchy in the video makes you feel uncomfortable, then you should not work with kids -- stick with adults! Let kids, be kids -- being a kid does not last a long time and it is the only time in life when you can truly be yourself.

I have not shown any specific BJJ techniques being taught - (we spend limited time each class on technique as kids do not have a long attention span) - but instead I have included some of the games we play that enhance the skills needed for a BJJ player.

See www.synergyjiujitsu.com for details of our kids and adult classes.

  • I've been helping the kids classes for a while now, I love the balloon idea, we have got to try that one, the kids will love it. Which ones would you say are the kids' favorites? In our classes they all love dodgeball we do and especially the crab soccer. ;)

  • @EnchantedOrchids yeh, dodgeball is always a hit

  • how did you attach the balloons?

  • @troyholton with rubber bands. you need to get cheap balloons as they pop more easily.

  • im just learning. any tips to help me?

  • 1. tap early and learn from each tap.

    2. do what the coach tells you to do.

    3. do not beat up on your training partners.

    4. show others what you know.

    5. tell partners when theydo something wrong

    6. trust this statement -> if you train long enough you will get your black belt.

    7. have fun
