first time I experienced that God "turned silent" on me I thought I should go crazy... as it went on for days, weeks and months I became more and more broken down, felt more and more frustrated, left alone and had an emptiness inside that can't even be described- it was terrible... I needed so bad that God would speak to me, if only just a few words... if it was a loving word of comfort, a correction or a "get a grip on yourself" wouldn't made a difference- it would still have felt like heaven on earth- because He would at least have said something... It's a strange place to be, because everything around you looks like normal, life has to continue as normal- but at the same time, nothing is as normal. I've experienced it some times, and it's just as terrible every time, because I need God so much, I need Him in all my life. A dear sister I know of, was taken through a month like this a year ago, she described it as "the dark hour of the soul". We do experience it different, but I think we all find us self to be lost without God...

WHY do God turn silent on us some times? I don't have a good answer on that, because I've never heard any talk about it. But what God showed me after first time was that He was testing me, He wanted to see what was in my heart, and for me to see what was in my heart. The verse God used to enlighten me was from 2.Chron.32.31b *God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart. *(NIV) We see different aspects looking at different translations; here's a couple more: GNB: *God let Hezekiah go his own way only in order to test his character. * CEV: * God let Hezekiah give his own answer to test him and to see if he would remain faithful.*

In my Norwegian Bible there is a referral to Deuteronomy 8 that's about why God took the Israelites through 40 years in the desert - especially verses 1-5 are recommended reading about this. God humbled them, He tested them- would they still follow Him, would they still live according to His word? WILL WE in the times when God turns silent us? What is in our hearts?

Something important to remember and understand; even though God turn silent, He hasn't left us. God has said that He will NEVER leave us, He is always there, He is still surrounding us by protection and care, He still provides- the difference is that we don't hear Him speak to us, we don't feel His presence- but He IS there! Question is; what is in our hearts? Will we remain faithful and obedient also in times like this?

  • Thank you for making this video. I love it and yes, I have felt this way many times and it was in that "Silence", that I was drawn closer in my walk with God. When the heartaches and the tears flow and you are in the "Silence of God", He is still there with us... as He holds us up and gives us strength. I do believe that trials make one stronger in faith and testimony.

God bless you, my sister.. for your heart of God... and for sharing it with us all. Love ya, YSIC ~ Trish

  • through times of silence we really get to see if we have surrendered our everything to God, if we live a surrendered life even then...we all want to mature as followers of Christ, but to often we seem to forget that we need some rain to appreciate the sun, and that it's also through the blowing storms our roots will grow deeper down and we become stronger in Him...

1.Pet.5.10 - *after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.*

  • Thank you for sharing what you went through, brought me to tears as I have been going through this for a while now. I know in my heart that He is there and He has His reasons, I just miss His presense which nothing compares to that on this earth. God bless and keep you and yours. In Jesus mighty and precious name.

  • Beautiful song, but I have wondered something of believers as an atheist. Do you actually hear a voice when in prayer? What does God sound like when not silent? I don't mean to mock or insult, I am just curious because God has been "silent" all my life despite the various faiths I've tried and studied. I would appreciate anyone taking the time respond.

  • His voice reminds me of Rich Mullins.

  • We throw our prayers up to God in the throws of our pain and to be honest, a lot of times we get nothing back in response. It is almost like a door been slammed in our faces. We cry louder to our Papa only to receive silence as an answer to our hurts. In our bitter weeping, the silence surrounds us like a blanket. It's then we realize that the silence is our Father embracing us.....

  • One of the reasons people go searching for "god" elsewhere is because of the "silence of god". When you pray and get nothing, when god fails you then you have no other choice but to search for a real god who will actually answer your prayers and gives a damn about you.

  • @HisGrace1954 i understand you. i think He is just waiting for us to wait before Him on the ground, repenting and asking Him to replace death with His Joy again. He is listening to that prayer... dont pray for judgement yet!

  • thank you for putting this song on and for sharing your own experience jesuskvinne. God bless you in all He takes you through.

  • We as a country are going through a time of " silence from God ". Our choice was to do things our own way. No Prayer in our schools, the Ten Commandments removal from our court houses, the pornography on the internet, and the abortion of the very gifts from God ! I pray that God's judgement be swift -----

  • @jesuskvinne , i'm experiencing a silence from him lately and im just so overwhelmed by everything.

  • I found it very helpful
