I feel it discriminates against race and also people who have health problems because if one owes money to a hospital or doctor, this is going to be on their credit report. I did research on this topic from the EEOC guidelines and here is what they found.

  • I make my own money now anyway I can under the table, because if they are going to allow this Country to be ran this way, then they get NOTHING in taxes from me. I can be "Greedy" too, just like the big shots!

  • @townkevin59 Good for you! I don't blame you at all.

  • I am 40 & haven't worked in three & a half years after working for 23 years, because of this, no one will hire me. I do have health problems, but Employers avoid me at every cost, so.....I now live on SSD and the United Fucking States Government pays my rent being they won't stop this bullshit!.

  • @townkevin59 That's horrible. Most people today don't have a good credit rating and it doesn't take long as most people live from paycheck to paycheck. My fiance is an engineer and he didn't qualify to work for defense but so may companies are checking this. Having bad credit is not stealing and employers shouldn't be allowed to ask for a credit check. It's discrimination because like you said you have health problems and if you owe a hospital they will find this out.

  • If you file bankruptcy, and an employer pulls your credit report and don't hire you, That is a violation of the bankruptcy code. If that happens to me, I am sueing.

  • @danka2000 That's what people should do. Great Point!

  • Welcome to the working world of 2008! Sucks, don't it??

  • Even for jobs like bank teller or Brinks truck driver, a low credit score does not mean someone is a thief.

  • Yea...because of my relationship with my clients and my own personal interest financially it's important that constant credit checks are done for me....I wouldn't be allowed to work without them and it's cool. It protects myself as well as others. I agree....absolutely background checks are needed in healthcare.

  • Do you feel that HR should have done a credit check for your position? I think a criminal background check is necessary especially in the health field.

  • I hope they consider it discrimination. These days I don't think anyone would be hired if it was based on good credit.

  • personal life has nothing to do with work ethics. It has been proven more that someone with good credit that ends up with money problems will steel before someone with nothing to lose anymore. Most people in HR can't even read a consumer report correctly anyway. IT IS DISCREMINATION AT ITS BEST.
