On December 28, 2009, Indiana Department of Transportation decided to demolish a large portion of Cline Avenue that was shut down on November 13 due to structural concerns. This portion extends about 4 miles from Calumet Avenue to Michigan Avenue / Inland Steel, and includes a section that collapsed on April 15, 1982 during construction, killing 14 workers and injuring 18.

I filmed this video on April 13, 2008, not knowing it will be the last time I drive the entire portion of Cline Avenue SR-912.

  • I just drove on part of the newly reopened westbound section of Cline Ave. At 2 PM, there were absolutely no cars on the road... actually kinda freaky!

  • good drag racing place back in the day

  • Funny enough, I actually drove the entire thing that morning not knowing it would be closed later that day. Something did feel different, the road itself appeared more worn. It sucks, it was always awesome driving way up there, especially at night.

  • Only INDOT would close a freeway! INDOT sucks

  • Nice video on Cline Ave Expressway. The only time I got to drive on the whole part of that road was in August of last year when I got my Driver's License.
