The history of Ballantine's Finest whisky told in sand.
George Ballantine was only 19 when, in 1827, he started his own business in Edinburgh, after having left his farm at the age of only 13 to seek his fortune. After George's death in 1891 the business continued to prosper under the leadership of his sons, and by 1896 the company was already exporting to the USA and other parts of the world. Ballantine's bonded warehouses at Dumbuck were guarded by a flock of Chinese White Geese: the "Scotch Watch" were famed the world over and featured in many advertisements. It was 1910 when the distinctive Ballantine's Finest square bottle was launched. Its iconic shape still remains unique after a century, as does the complex, refined and elegant taste of Ballantine's Finest blended Scotch whisky.
