This is why I only use a full face.

"Hey Cow!"
"Don't talk to me bird killer!"

Had that happen a few weeks back... only with an open face helmet.
Kept running my tongue over my teeth to see if any were broken until I found a safe spot to pull over. Amazingly, I was fine, just a fat lip.

A bird and I collided once, but he was luck to have hit me on my leather jacket and not the helmet. When he hit me, I thought he was a gonner but I stopped and went back to check on the bird. He was lifeless just like the bird in your video. But after I picked him up (to bury him on the side of the road) he started to move. After about 30 minutes (yeah, I guess I'm a sucker for little animals) he was standing on his feet. A little bit later, he flew up into a near by tree. I miss him.

Seriously the commentary on this is hilarious! However I think you should have stopped to chat up the cow...
Did the cow say anything back?

@drrice Actually, they were mooing quite a bit at me. Microphone doesn't seem to have picked it up though.

What kind of cam do you use?
karr1213 10 months ago
@karr1213 A tiny little MD80 spy cam from ebay. They're less than $15 + a memory card. I've also got a cheap "jelly" wide angle lens on it, which distorts the edges quite a bit, but I think it's worth it for the extra FOV. It's pretty much the cheapest helmet cam you can get. I use it just in case something like this happen, or for bad drivers.

@unfinite
Ah, ok I have the same and the Jelly lens though, how do you get it to stay on the camera? It's tacky but not sticky!
I also record my rides.

@karr1213 Yeah, I found the same thing. With the jelly ring it would slowly come unstuck and fall off. What I did was just super glue it on. You'll need something to act as a spacer though, in place of the sticky ring; some washers or a little bit of plastic tube or something. Anything you have laying around that's the right size.
