Welcome aboard MBTA Neoplan AN460LF Dual Mode #1128 as it operates on Sliver Line Route 1 from South Station to Logan International Airport. 1128 is one of 32 Dual Mode buses purchased by MBTA in 2003 to operate on the original three Sliver Line Routes and has the distinction of being the first and only batch of Neoplan Dual Mode buses in North America. 1128 is also one of seven buses purchased with funds from Massport and are required to operate only on the Logan Airport Branch.

  • casue at 3:07 i heard a WTF bomb go off. its like the bus blew up. id be happy to fix that with electrification of THE WHOLE LINE!!! *RAGE*

  • i think tear down the tunnel and build a bridge, or convert the whole line to electricity and use E60LFRs

  • @busrailfan

I didn't know they had ZFs. Speaking of Seattle, they are proposing getting new ETBs in the next couple of years to replace the Bredas and Gilligs (since they were retrofitted with components from the AMGs). I can probably guess that they might get New Flyers (well techinically there really isnt any other choice now since Skoda went kaputski).

  • @bigken6005 - As well, the Seattle Breda's diesel engines were coupled up with a ZF automatic transmission.

  • @bigken6005 - Seattle's Breda's were operated under straight electric power while in the tunnel and then before exiting the tunnel, the poles were lowered and the diesel engine (6V92TA) was started and driven under diesel engine power only.

  • Since it has a Skoda electric motor and connected to the S60 engine in diesel mode, wouldn't it kinda render it as a hybrid electric bus? Sounds like it. I wonder how Seattle's Bredas operated (at least before they got their 6v92s taken out).

  • I always loved vids of these buses. thanks for the upload.
