Join Mark and Debbie on this week's episode as they take on the subject of spiritual authority and the concept of the husband being the spiritual leader in the home. Many Christian marriages struggle and stumble in this area because we have created an image where the man is supposed to do everything from taking care of finances to praying to being the one who hears from God and more. Hear how Mark challenges this image and find out why he thinks that a more correct model is that of the King and Prophet... a model that is shown to be very effective throughout scripture.

Both husbands and wives will find their relationship is accompanied by less resentment and more freedom when they understand that there are two roles and men don't have to fulfill both.

  • interesting and a little shovanistic (no i cant spell the word)

  • interesting

  • The intro of this program is literally like enduring a milder form of hell. I can't imagine how anybody over the age of 7 can tolerate their tacky mannerism long enough to hear the message.

Incidentally the bible compares marriage to the relationship between Christ and the church NOT Moses and the prophets. Very few people were ever prophets and the world has never had fewer than it does now. The notion that wives = prophets? Scripture would not have left such a thing obscure if it were true.

  • As a husband and wife we have an opportunity to come together in prayer before our heavenly Father and lift the needs of our family up. The Bible says when two or more are gatherered I will hear their prayer. Two is stronger than one. It's like a blessing we have been given as a husband and wife. If the husband is a true follower in Christ and realizes the power of prayer why should this be an issue? A man can't lead or discern what the wife is saying if he doesn't take the time to know Him.

  • I think one concept wasn't addressed. That is that God desires a close relastionship with all of us. It's impossible to know Him if we don't spend time with him in His word and prayer. Maybe the Bible doesn't address this other than don't unevenly yolk yourselves, because it's just a natural reponse if you are walking with the Lord. Also, how do you know that the wife speaking those things ( prayer &reading into her husbands life aren't visions that God is trying to speak into her husbands life?

  • Miriam means 'prophetess' or 'lady'; the name recognises Miriam's position as the sister of the tribal leader . Unfortunaly the history of patriarchy forgot the importance of women in spirituality and many "spiritual leaders" were not able to see this and transmit it to others.

  • I am a pagan and it is clear for me. He just said the total truth. The female is the prophet, the male is the King. We females are more sensitive to spirituality to listen to the messages from god, but also from the antichrsit. Women forgot many of their power, in the contemporary history of feminism. Of course feminism was good against patriarchy and oppression but the extreme was bad. Nice that many spiritual leaders are recognizing the power of women, that patriarchy ignored.

  • how about we discuss creationism vs evolution....

  • @tlewis1428 Yes, God spoke to kings also, but not every time. Especially when that king had rejected God, God quit talking to him. Many men distance themselves from God and wonder why they can't hear from him. Men are not good at submission to God. Women often hear from God where their husbands don't because we are taught submission from the cradle.
