An update vid for the scrapbook of our 125 Gallon mostly-Amazonian tank (Rainbow cichlids are Central American). Everyone's a little frisky since it's almost dinner time. The two largest severums (our first cichlids) are about three years old and measure in around 8" total length. The chocolate cichlid is about two years old now. We took him in at under 1" as a half dead freebie rescue. We nursed him back, and now he's doing well, at about 6-7". The red shoulder severum is notable as she came from wild parents. Other notables are the Flagtail Prochilodus and the wife's ~15" sailfin plecostomus... which over the years has outgrown 10, 29, and 75 gallon tanks.

  • What is that silver fish with the red an black fins and huge eyes?

  • @TheSammietsunami It's a Flagtail Prochilodus. They're great fish! The one thing I don't like is that they can be "splashers" at feeding time. :-)

  • is the chocolate cichlid the one that hangs in the back at 2:55? and will they get aggressive? im thinking about adding something else into a 80gallon with two 4 inch severums, tiger barbs, 3 angels, leoprinus, and rainbows.. do u think it'll work? or would a 3rd severum be just as good?

  • @xThaVietx Yup, that's the chocolate. They're very laid back, but won't let anyone push them around. I'd do a chocolate before a 3rd severum, but you've got a pretty full house in that tank already. The 4 inch severums *will* grow quite a bit. My 4 year old ones have gotten huge. The Angels will grow a bit, too.
