  • Everyone should mail Obama the book "Economics In One Lesson" by Henry Hazlitt. Hazlitt goes through this fallacy extensively in chapter 7 "The Curse Of Machinery." Obama is making the same old, false, argument made by the Technocrats in the 1930's. This is just another example of how ignorant and uneducated most politicians are. I find it absolutely terrifying that immense amount of power is given to such an ignorant human being.

  • This video was disliked by vault guards and cable car runners who lost their jobs to automated systems and or versions of these things.

  • Funny thing is with the increase of making automated stuff it not only increases the speed and efficiency and gets rid of a few peoplesure, but on the other hand it puts to work millions of other people because you have to have factories to make these machines, some computers (depending on the machine), engineers (electrical specifically), and people to maintain the machines. Humans aren't completely replaceable by machines its not like the movies where machines can make and fix other machines.

  • Democrats are the root of all evil! We should just crush them all and only have one political party.

  • You obviously don't know what you are talking about, because you refute your own points as you talk. You should post the video excerpt, in context, and argue against Obama's exact point. Further, WTF "57 states" weakens your position - petty & irrelevant. This is whats wrong with politics - 4:20 to uncredibly do what you could have credibly done in a minute. Strength in brevity & accuracy.

"You need a college degree to program atm machines."

No you don't, you can get an industry accredidation.

Electrical engineer can become engineers WITHOUT getting a degree, they need only to pass industry qualifcation exams.

If you ahve a degree it's certiantly easier, but not neccessaury, and High School CERTIANTLY teach enough to program ATMs of all things, they aren't complicated.

If high schoolers can make apps for Iphones & TI-84s, they can program an ATM.

"Japan's education system is 3 times as good, "

Education contributes, but no, that's not the reason.

The largest growing unemployment segment in our country, is those with college degrees, which has been taken as a given.

Further, Japanese education system, better? F*ck no, do you realize how EASILY kids are run out of their system if they fail to submit whole heartedly to the cram schools, or put just a toe out of line?

If you're special needs, you're pretty much f*cked.

That's because Japan's education system is 3 times as good, if you didn't go to college you were a black sheep in the family. You need a college degree to program atm machines.

    1. Fact, automation takes jobs away in the US.

    2. Fact, stopping automation is not the answer.

    3. Fact, increasing automation & getting a better education system is the key.

    1. Yet Japan's unemployment rate is half our own, here's what you're failing to account for;

    a. You need people to maintain the autonotoms, to build parts, to manage & repair the OS systems running them, to keep them clean, etc.

    b. by freeing up labor in one area, you allow other markets and industries to exist.

The Cotton Gin made slave picking uneccesuary, yet, slavery increased, why? Because efficiency of making cotton went up, making it far more profitable, thus expansion.
