ICAN is being launched in April 2007 by doctors and medical professionals working in 60 countries, joining with mayors, civil society groups and prominent persons to demand a Nuclear Weapons Convention. What a complete joke! Doctors wanting to abolish nuclear medicine (check the website, ICAN wants to shut up nuclear plants). ICAN wants no nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, Nations war among themselves and it's part of human history. Without the weapons in the last 60+ years the odds of major world powers fighting world wars would have dramatically risen (with no nuclear war threat). ICAN would rather see the horrors of WW2 repeated than deterrence provided by the threat of a nuclear war.
