"Siggi" Nissel was loved by all his students here in Köln. I met him once through Jens (of the Auryn Quartett) and it was impossible not to like such a cheerful, generous spirited man. In a way the quartett's music lives on through their students.

The lead violin is Norbert Brainin, he never stopped talking and was extremely absent minded, once leaving his Gauneri in the railway waiting room; it took him over a year to retrieve it. Once getting into his car he sat on his little finger and his rolly polly weight damaged the finger for some months.
