This superb young band features their leader, brilliant young clarinet and sax player James Evans whilst on piano is Tom Kincaid, on guitar (several!)/banjo is Martin Wheatley and on bass and vocals Jim Ydstie. This was recorded at The Harp Hotel, Albrighton, Shropshire, England on May 27th. They are playing "Who's sorry now" with James' inimitable vocal.

  • Listen to Toms octaves !! yooooooo

  • I like them!

  • James-

Let tell you that you are the greatest swing clarinetist living today. I should know because my brother worked a few times for Benny Goodman at Disneyland in California. You can look my brother up, "Randy Caputo” on YouTube. If you ever make it to California, you guys should connect.

    God Bless and keep swingin

    Sincerely

    Paul

  • Genius!

  • Is that the same bass Tom Wheatley is playing now ... well. if it is, and you see this , I would really make you an offer for that bass. Pure class ... Willie Dixon used to play one of those... Drop me a message.

  • James Evans is probably the most innovative, technically accomplished clarinettist playing in Britain today. He also has an idiosyncratic sense of humor. Listen very carefully to his soloing here and you will find that it is quite unique... a real buzz. Check out his work on the new Byzantines' CD, "Mister Exstein's X-Ray Eyes."

  • James Evans rules!
