Strip Polka / Largo Strip
Composed by Johnny Mercer, Carl Brandt

A tongue in cheek song that was recorded as an instrumental by Lawrence Welk with Accordianist Myron Florenby and also vocally by the Andrew Sisters...But it is Spike Jones' version that is best known - with 'the voice of them all' Gloria Wood vocalising 'Queenie's' role...
Gloria had been the resident female singer with the Kay Kyser Orchestra - but also made a very good living using her extraordinary 4 1/2 octave voice in film & TV jingles and she also dubbed Marilyn Monroe's singing voice in 'River of No Return'...
Sadly, the only song that she is famous for is the spoof song 'Hey! Bell Boy'. which was primarily a vehicle for her extraordinary vocal range. Gloria is quoted as saying.... "I like making money," she admits. "But I'd like to be known for all the things I've done. Nobody knows Gloria Wood." - Gloria died in 2005

  • You should have posted it with photos of burlesque girls.

  • @xXDarkteaserXx It's easy to get this song. Look through your cache.

In older Windows versions the file starts with get_video, In current versions it starts with 'videoplayback'. If it has a filetype, keep it. Otherwise give it a .flv filetype. Now you have video. There are programs that can ... strip .... the audio from the video. Get one.

  • I was raised on Spike Jones. My Dad would play this song at ROCK volume and Mom would lovinly holler at him and say "Dad, what will the neighbors think?" Great childhood memories. Thanks for posting!

  • The best version of this song is done by Johnny Mercer

  • youre very welcome! I love this fun stuff.
