I guess people still think they have a right not to be offended. Illegal alien or illegal immigrant is the most neutral and exact term you can get. Undocumented worker is indeed downplaying the unlawful act.

I think it is bs that their argument is that it is the Latinos who are finding it offensive. Statistically it is Latinos who cross into America without proper documentation. But if I were to go into say Britain, or Italy, or Japan without my proper documentation stating that I have permission to be in their country for whatever time frame, then I, a 22 year old Caucasian female, would be an illegal immigrant. The next thing we will be hearing is law suits for hate crimes with use of the term.
