What raises speculation that the killer might have been Catholic is the spelling of "Christmass" (instead of Christmas with one "s") to indicate its origin in "Christ mass" (a mass for Christ). Catholics, unique among religions, call their religious service a mass.

Boy...Teenager...are descriptive terms. If I were to kill an old man, as an old man myself, would it not be acceptable to refer to the this object with the terms man...elderly...A Negro was at one time a slave. There's a clue! Has the term slave ever been used in previous contacts?
