Froggie Moore -- King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band
This is a tune composed by Jelly Roll Morton but recorded for the first time by the Oliver Band. It was part of the band's first recording session in Richmond, Indiana on April 6 1923. This is another tune which is still in the repertoire of many of today's jazz bands.
I believe I recorded it in the mid eighties with our Climax Jazz Band as well.
The famous Oliver Band consisted of King Oliver cornet, Louis Armstrong cornet, Honore Dutray trombone, Johnny Dodds clarinet, Lil Hardin piano, Bill Johnson banjo and Baby Dodds drums.
Another must for the serious jazz collector.
