An early take of the song in 1987, also has additional vocals by mccartney's friend Elvis Costello

  • Whoa Paul. This song is powerful. Who's it about I wonder? "I hang patiently on every word you send. Will we ever be much more than just friends? As for you, you sit there playing this game..." Sounds like his relationship with John in the 70's.

  • Great duet version of this great song. It was still a great song on OFF THE GROUND which had a lot of gems like this one!

  • I think this demo is from 89..

    Great stuff.

  • thanx best song!

  • Paul's at his best when he's not smoothed down / overproduced his songs... this raw and primal version is just great. But Stranglehold is still my fave of today. Gonna listen to Press album again :)

  • Great version of a great song. Elvis C can sure sing a duet! Now we need a version of this video with more than one picture and it'd all be complete!

  • Wonderful Paul McCartney/Elvis Costello duet.

  • @studerj37

One of my favorite vocals of his is on "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" which has that screamy vocal too.

  • This is great!!

His screaming voice is on level with what he did on

    maybe I´m amazed

    I´m down

    Helter Skelter
