. . . what's that sound? . . . Uh oh, it's time for Gene Gene The Dancing Machine!

I saw/heard Sal Nestico many times in 1963 & 1964. This was at the Metropole Cafe on 7th. Ave. in Manhattan, NYC. I played guitar with the rock band behind the bar from 2 PM to 6 PM; the heavy duty stuff started at 7 PM. Oh boy! Thrilling! What memories!

I saw this band in '64.

Remember how they closed the Gong Show with this in the late70s/early 80s? Or were you too stoned?

@graftonacrylic I agree! Sal is very clean and sharp! He should be listed with the all time greats.
-
@graftonacrylic nestico is good but he doesnt chart articulation dog.

The Tenor sax player makes this version jump !

Sal Nistico has always been one of my favorites. He's high on my list of underrated saxophone players.
Thanks for sharing!

@gnativerson, check out the YouTube video "Hellzapoppin' routine to Count Basie's Jumpin' At The Woodside". That 1941 jazz (swing) dance routine to Count Basie's Jumpin at the Woodside has been called one of the best dance scenes captured on film. YouTube also has a longer version of that film clip which begins with instrumental music only. Both are absolutely mind blowing!!

sal nistico = utterly amazing. check out that articulation and the flow of lines
