Description: Dave Walker, former president and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, sends a message to all Americans about how to educate our elected officials - and ourselves - about fiscal responsibility.

Visit http://www.pgpf.org to learn more.

The Peter G. Peterson Foundation has teamed up with mtvU to create InDebtEd, a new campaign for college students that raises awareness about the dangers of personal and government debt and promotes action to help stop the fiscal crisis in the United States.

Applicants 18-28 years old, individually or in teams, must come up with a creative, original idea for a video game that addresses the nation's fiscal crisis, with a $10,000 prize at stake.

To get more information, or to apply to the contest, go to http://indebted.mtvu.com/the-challenge. And if you're not between the ages of 18-28, forward the site to a friend who is!

  • Enjoy your banker overlords Americans. Now comes the price for all those decades of "America fuck yeah". I hope it felt good, because you're in for a nice ride in a harsh steel-bath to pay for that.

  • What A joke. "If Sarah Palin could do it, Imagine what I could do with a 10 digit bank account."

  • Peter P and his Propaganda machine. This guy makes me sick to my stomach. He made his billions over the past decades, and fraternized with the right wing elite. Now he wants you to believe that he actually cares about the USA and the national debt. Just remember Peter, the first will come last, and the last will come first.

  • Pete P's goal is not to save Social Security, but to plunder and rape it. He is EVIL. Don't be fooled by this Wall Street snake. They play on our emotions, and do the classic match and lead, but it's all lies. When, oh when, will Americans see through the lies? Especially when the words are what we want to hear. But nothing of the same ever happens, in fact the opposite does.

  • Pete Peterson also gave a billion of his own money to promote the privatization of social security.

  • Heard Mr. Walker on NPR and was floored by his insistence upon increasing taxes. I agree with him that spending must be cut but placing more burden on the citizenry is wrong. Prosperity comes from the people and isn't granted by a government. Sorry, Mr. Wonk but your prescription is just more of the same.

  • That could explain the 'strange' 10,000 dollar prize.

    What's your source?

I mean, if you want to lower the debt, you don't need another incentive, like a prize, to that, right?

It has to be something you really want to do and not just for the money...

    A video game?

They better take some footage from Money as Debt, I guess.

I find it astounding that there is no mention of the interest on the debt.

I mean, if that wouldn't exist, there wouldn't be any deficit, right?

    Fighting symptoms - again
