Are we victims of genetics and environment or do we bear responsibility for our intentions, decisions, and choices.

  • Of course this belief (determinism) would seem scary to women:-)

    (extreme lack of true control)

All due respect for and to your challenges to neuroscience though, but I am afraid it is now twinned with--and a subset of physics: ie deterministic.

    "In the real world" ?

  • It's really scary how so called "well informed" people hold onto superstitious beliefs like "free will".

  • I don't know how to put it to you gently - you are stupid. You can not break the laws of physics therefore you have no free will. If you didn't know, your brain is governed by the laws of physics.

  • You might enjoy the work/research of Stanislav Grof, as well as modern research into the relationship & beneficial effects of psychedelic drugs such as LSD25 & psilocybin (especially research coming from Europe & Russia). The "Blue Brain Project" is also something you might find quite interesting.

I had a severe TBI in late 1986. Were it not for copious amounts of LSD, my cognizance would be far inferior to what it is today.

Thanks for the excellent vids. Keep up the superb work.

    Pax.

  • conscious vs unconscious is a little different than free will vs deterministic.

Even if the scientific experiments were flawed, it does not prove the existence of free will.

Einstein said something like, "Even though I do not believe the murderer is responsible for his actions, it does not mean that I want to have tea with him." clearly moral judgments can be made independent of free will.
