yes i know the greeks used it first but i'm pretty sure the romans used it too.

and if you read my comment you will see i mentioned that they used a saw formation.

@ThailanderAndy i like ur knowledge of history, but one problem with wat u said is phalanx, that was the greek style, with long pikes, it was the roman style, to use ur shield to protect the man to his left, not quit a phalanx, but they say the roman army was like a buzz saw

Part 1

This is a great game sure but it's far far from what actually happened.Firstly it wasnt fought in the open.

The romans were so hugely outnumbered, they set up their ranks in a "funnel" shaped area, a bottle neck, so that the front attacking force of the Britons shrunk inwards to leave a much smaller on coming front line. This caused a huge crush amongst the Brits and many died in the crush and stampede.All the Brits had to try to fit into the tunnel area and it caused chaos and carnage.

Part 2. Secondly, the Romans fought in very tight Phallanxes. They interlockedshields making a defence so strong and tight, it was impossible to break through. The front ranks formed large serations, just like the teeth of a saw, ziz zags, these searations trapped the Brits and the charging enemy crushed themselves in. The Brits had huge slashing swords but the crush made it impossible to use them. The Romans had short stabbing swords for close in combat. The result was a devastating massacre.
