@jdofdoom man, im kinda sad. i was told i got it like 2 days ago. and i feel like shit :(
-
notice how the 2 leads are more attractive than everyone else? I have Autism and I find this a typical hollywood approach to a big issue. At least rain man felt more realistic

@G0lfer4EVER Thanks but, AS normally have difficulties with social contact but that doesn't mean that we can't have friends, or have a good time with others. And there are also AS's that aren't that advanced. Look at me, my IQ might be "127" but I'm just doing mavo (Average secondary school in the netherlands) and I'm highly dyslexic .Every AS is different and that's also why Asperger is such an interesting Syndrome :)

@Zimmie63 Yes ,that would be a good idea and it would make the movie a much more realistic and less stereotypical. But the only problem is that People with AS can be a little bit "difficult" and handeling a few AS is allready difficult for people that aren't trained to handle with Autistic people, so a whole filmset full of AS's would be really hard to handle.

@MasterAdam100 I've dealt with some strangers before that have thought behind my back about why I'm so slow which is insulting if you ask me

The characters in this movie covers the full spectrum of autism. Only the two main characters are aspergers. Autistic people are NOT retarded. Go watch the movie before you guys throw potshots at it.

asperger is having SOCIAL PROBLEMS, theres no retarded things. And even, aspegers are like advanced at school because they are like in their world so they don't realy have time to have fun with others because they have this social problem that can't let them having friends and people think that that makes them retarded. NO FUCKING WAY! the retarded one are the ones that sais they're retarded because they don't even know how they fell.
my brother has aspeger and its not retarded at ALL

I saw this online I thought i would be a good movie, but by watching the clips I'm kinda perturbed. How can you cast a bunch of nerotipicals to play aspies, the actors prob all watched rain man to train for it and then add some cliche mental retardation traits or "crazy" tics, this is offensive... were not retarded, were the software engineers and scientists of the new world.
i really need to see this movie. When I found out I had asperger's syndrome, I felt useless and my confidence dropped
I do have social problems, have wierd obsesions and repetitive routines. I just need to know how people cope with AS

I have a son with aspergers..wouldnt it be nice if they actually used people with AS to play the parts. It could be done-but I dont think anyone would want to try. The movie tries to "explain" too much without realizing you cant pigeon hole Aspergers into such a tight explanation. Did they really try? Or did they just attempt to turn a profit ..I dont know what my son thought_he couldnt sit long enough to watch the movie..
