I was listening to Death Cab the other day, thinking about how ridiculous some of Ben Gibbard's metaphors were, so I wrote down a bunch of metaphors that made no sense at all and eventually this song was the result. There's no deep meaning behind any of the metaphors besids the chorus, so I wouldn't look to hard into any of them. Simply a fun song.
The Metaphor
You're the Spanish Inquisition to my War of 1812.
You're my Berlin Wall falling to the ground.
Your the gentle wind the land breathes in,
to keep us all alive.
You're the metaphor that no one understands.
What's 2+4 in a war with calculated enemies,
when there's no way it all adds up?
What do we call someone who gets lost in the trees,
when they're made of nothing but dirt and leaves?
You're the riddle that remains a mystery,
that no one's figured out but me.
You're my metaphor that no one understands,
You're my riddle that remains a mystery to this day.
I figured you out, watching everything you do.
The key is to get into your heart.

great tune, great presentation and the reason it can't be understood with ease is that it's a metaphive, not four and another reason is this guy is from Iowa, not Missouri. I think Alford coached the Bears before he went to Iowa. Maybe not.
