Blue Grotto Scuba Dive

A privately owned spring that technically is a sinkhole with depths reaching 100 ft. Don't be put off by the term sinkhole as this is far from your typical sink. When you first enter the Grotto you will encounter a huge cavern comparable to a small high school auditorium.

There are several wooden platforms at fifteen feet to help you get your bearings prior to entering the cavern. At a depth of 30 feet there is a fresh air bell so you can take off your mask and breathe some fresh air as well as communicate to other divers. At 50 feet there is a large limestone rock that can sit about 8 to 10 divers. This rock has been nicknamed "Peace Rock" as a result of someone carving a peace sign on the rock back in the 1960's.

@chapmasi This is not a cave, even at its lowest part. It is a very large cavern. I would have to say that with a silt out, almost any dive shall be considered a cave until this silt settles down. Sorry to correct you on this matter, but I really hate when people are given misconceptions about things like the difference between a cavern and cave. And unless you are cave certified, please do not go into an actual underwater cave.

Been here 3 times whilst in the USA with Ranger Rick, some tosser kicked all the silt up down in the cave last time I was at the bottom

Very nice video. One of my favorite places to dive...one of the largest caverns I've seen this side of the Yucatan.
