I bought a Batman costume for a New Years Eve party last year but wasn't happy with how the mask looked, so I thought I'd have a go at making my own. Here's the result!

  • Hey man, I would really appreciate if you reply back to me.

Regarding your batman cowl video, that you made using liquid latex. I have 2 questions.

Where did you buy the liquid latex from, and how much did it cost?

Can you spray paint a finished latex mask to give it colour? Instead of mixing acrylic with latex.

    Please answer. Thanks.

  • @Otakage I got the latex from propbuilder theres a link in the description I think its about £26 for 5 litres. The problem with spray paint is it will flake off latex as it stretches, you can get latex paint that you airbrush on but that can get expensive, the acrylic latex mix is the cheapest option.

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, will it flake off straight away, as soon as the paint has set on to the latex? Or over time through wear and tear?

  • @Otakage To be honest I don't know, all i'm sure of is you need a flexible paint like acrylic! You'd have to do a test to be sure!

  • Does it matter what kind of clay/liquid latex is used? Also how long do you wait in between letting the latex coats dry?

  • @rekojah any oil bassed clay, that includes make like plasticine. I used moulding latex, theres links in the bescription. I let it dry for one or two hours between coats.

  • Don't try this at home.

  • Your ears were to far apart.

  • @ThePhantomMonk Ok and thanks again :)

  • @TheSplat245 No I didn't need to stuff the ears at all, they stand up fine on their own! Good luck with your cowl. :)
