9 Days after my Eye Removal Surgery. I was diagnosed with a rare cancer in the eye and they couldn't save it, so it was just removed. It may look painful but there's very little pain to speak of. It's a little uncomfortable when I blink, but not too bad.

  • I also am having enucleation for ocular melanoma in 2 days. Dec. 3rd. Thanks for the vids! Helps to know what to expect!

  • @cengle54

Good Luck with the surgery!! There's really not much pain involved with the enucleation, just for the first few days.

    Take care!!

  • Hi there,

I'm 31 years old and an ocular melanoma was just discovered in my left eye on Monday June 21, 2010. It was not there on last year's exam. It's approx 7 mm x 14 mm (measured by the retinal guy)... meeting with oncologist on Tues to determine whether it's a candidate for plaque radiotherapy. I was understandably upset and freaked out by the idea of losing my eye, but after looking at pictures on the web and especially watching your videos, I feel more at peace. THANK YOU for sharing!

    Hello,

I hope your doing OK after hearing the bad news. I know I was really stunned when I was told I had cancer in my right eye. Really, who gets cancer in their eyes? I'm glad my videos are helping others deal with thought of losing an eye, from cancer, or other means!! Please keep in touch and let me know how your doing from time to time. I'm always here if you need someone to talk too.

    Take care,

    Jeff

  • hey jeff, someone i know just had their eye surgically removed. how long did the recovery take? did you have a lot of pain? if so, for how long? by the way, the prosthesis looks great!

    Hello,

I hope your friend is doing well after their surgery!! The healing proccess is different for everyone. I had cancer in my eye with no pain at all before I had the eye removed. The healing proccess could be very different if your friend had an accident, or something else. I had just a liitle bit of pain for around 4 days, and stopped taking my meds on day 5!! Most of the pain was associated with the muscles that were re-attached to the implant.

    Take care,

    Jeff
