@lejjamie I saw him 7 times in the role. In Chicago. My fav.play and Shulman was spectacular. I ordered his CD from his website. When it didn't come after quite a while I called a # at the site and he answered. That was a treat. He sings arias very well too.
@timdstevens Let me chime in. I saw him in Les Mis 7 freekin times. Six here in Chicago and once in NYC. When I saw the show for the 1st time, I went back the next night bought a single ticket and saw it again. Shulman was a GREAT Valjean. There is none better in the role. Other greats but ya can't be better than Craig.
Craig recently sang his one-man show in Garner, NC and it was wonderful. He is a classic musical theater star, a great actor with tremendous vocals. If you ever get a chance, go see Schulman. You will not be disappointed.
I too remember vividly the several times I saw Craig as Jean Valjean, in Chicago - I was so impressed - I am so impressed with your great talent! If anyone ever has the chance to find Craig playing Valjean - run, don't walk to see the show immediately! This video was fun to watch. Hope to get to see you again!
Hi Erikslar. I only hope that somehow you get to see Craig Schulman in Les Miz. I wrote above that I think he is the best Valjean ever. I saw him in both NYC and Chicago. A truly great artist.
There should be way more comments here so let me add mine. I saw Craig both in Chicago and New York. He gave unforgettable performances as Valjean. He is by far the best Valjean in the business. A greatly gifted man. Bravo Craig from Joel.
I saw you perform in Les Miserables on Braodway in mid 1990's and you were wonderful. "Bring Him Home" was heart wrenching. We waited for you after the performance and you signed my program. It's good to hear you perform again. Good luck
Mr. Schulman is one of the best male vocalists I have ever seen on stage. He brings humanity to his roles and arches his performances which are incredible to witness. I've seen him in Phantom, Jekyll & Hyde, The Fiddler On The Roof, and The Secret Garden. He changes his voice for each role that he portrays, which we rarely see these days on stage. Someday I hope to see him in Les Miserables. I wish he was on stage more often, he definately has the stage pressence, voice and acting ability.
This is awesome! I've had the priveledge seeing Craig in a handful of shows: The Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler On The Roof, The Secret Garden, and Jekyll & Hyde. I never got to see his legendary performance as Jean Valjean. In my opinion, Craig is one of the best stage performers I have ever seen. He brings depth and a humanistic approach to his roles which I rarely see in shows these days. I like the fact that Craig changes his voice and becomes the character he is portraying.
