Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland on BBC Radio Ulster

Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland is a Countryside Alliance-funded non-profit support and educational programme for women who have or have had breast cancer.

We provide an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural setting and learn fly fishing, "a sport for life." Just as importantly, we offer an opportunity to meet new friends and have fun.

Weekend retreats incorporate counselling, educational services and the sport of fly-fishing to promote mental and physical healing.

Founded in the US in 1996, Casting for Recovery came to UK & Ireland in 2006 and immediately commenced planning for the first retreat which took place in September 2007. In 2008, four retreats took place, growing the programme hugely and showing the scope and demand of CfR's special brand of therapy. The organisation relies on local volunteers and organisations to support community based retreats.
