Chinna Chinna Aasai

It has been our "chinna chinna aasai" (favorite little desire) to video tape a brief, live version of the famous Tamil movie song from Roja - Chinna Chinna Aasai (composed by A. R. Rahman). Earlier in Fall 2010, six year old Julianna Nivi Jebaraj had won the top prize in a singing contest (conducted in New York Capital Region), for singing "Chinna Chinna Aasai." We wanted to video-tape this as a more low-key family moment, with Nivi singing, and her uncle Naveen Jebaraj accompanying her on the piano. Nivi's other uncle Jeyan Jebaraj handled the camera and his wife Diana Jebaraj helped with on-the-spot choreography, adding to the creative fun. It was a fantastic family moment we would like to share with you all.

Excellent video Naveen, everything. As a pianist, I liked the way you've brought out the essence of the song. The rhythm is amazing. But then, your playing was outdone by your daughter. As young as she is, she sang perfectly in tune, and matched it with her kinesthetic movements. Looks like you have a new piano, compared to your previous videos. Great job.

@anandramanathan Thanks Anand.  This video was recorded at my parents home during our Christmas get-together. Baldwin piano has a mellow tone and I love it.. Haven't seen any new uploads in a while..? I hope you are very busy! :)
