The Pendulum for the German Pavillion "Balancity" at the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai

Zu sehen ist das LED Kugel-Pendel, welches in der "Energiezentrale" des Deutschen Pavilions auf der EXPO 2010 in Schanghai installiert wird. Die Kugel hat einen Durchmesser von 3m und hat eine Masse von 1200kg, das Pendel ist ca. 5m lang. Die Steuerungstechnik, Antriebstechnik und Sensorik wurde vom Instut für Steuerungstechnik der Werkzeugmaschinen und Fertigungseinrichtungen (ISW) der Universität Stuttgart entwickelt, der Regler vom Institut für theoretische Mechanik (ITM)

I heard that in the malaysian petronas towers they have massive pendulums engineered about mid way or so in the center of the towers to aid them from swaying in the wind, an inner balance aid, did this idea come from this type of pendulum anyone know? cool video!!
