Up for bid is a 1971 Datsun 240Z. This car is originally from California, and just came to the east coast in 2005. I bought this car from the original owner who restored it in 2004 - 2005. Restoration was done by the previous owner before coming to Connecticut.

Here is a list of all work done to the car.

Body:
- Body painted 2004 Honda Monte Carlo Blue
- Shaved emblems except for quarter panel emblems
- 1970 style quarter panel emblems were adapted to the 1971 body
- Exterior door locks, antenna, and gas door shaved
- Remote door locks installed
- Bumpers have been smoothed and painted to match body(rear is fiberglass)
- Stock front valance replaced with vintage aftermarket valance (which the original owner bought shortly after buying the car)
- 14" dealer option 5 slot Mag wheels
- Michilin Pilot 205/60/R14 tires
- Stock headlights replaced with Tri Bar Halogen
- Aftermarket mirrors from RBS Auto installed on doors
- Entire underside undercoated, and gas tank stripped and painted
- Carbon fiber rear deck lid spoiler installed

Drivetrain:
- Stock original L24 straight six motor, 186K miles on the odometer, however the original owner said the block was reworked in the 80's. The last time the head was off during the restoration there was no sludge in the motor and the cross hatch pattern in the cylinders was still clearly visible.
- Stock cylinder head ported on intake and exhaust
- Mild performance cam installed
- MSA 6-1 ceramic coated exhaust header installed
- Stock SU carburetors and manifold has been polished
- Dual ITG air cleaners installed with MSA air horns
- 280zx E12-80 installed(no more annoying points distributor!)
- Borg Warned T-5 manual transmission from a 280zx turbo installed with performance clutch installed (rebuilt in 2004)
- Stock rear end and halfshafts (U-joints and bearings replaced)
- MSA Twice Pipes installed and fully welded

Suspension & Brakes:
- Stock suspension parts removed, stripped, painted, and reinstalled
- Bushings replaced with Energy Suspension Urethane bushings
- Tokico shocks and springs installed, lowering the car 1 inch
- Machined aluminum strut spacers installed in front to keep the steering in line from the lowered suspension
- All hub bearings replaced
- Front and rear sway pars from Motorsport Auto installed with urethane bushings
- Front and rear strut bars from Motorsport Auto installed
- Brakes completely rebuilt, stainless braided lines replace stock rubber
-New Master cylinder and clutch cylinder installed

Interior & electrical:
- Dash re-skinned (NOT a dash cap)
-280z instrument gauges installed
- Stock steering wheel replaced with Grant wheel
- Sony Xplode CD player
- 3.5" speakers in doors, 2 6x9's and 8" subwoofer in custom rear deck
- New black loop carpet carpet from MSA
- New black seat vinyl from MSA
- Higher output Maxima alternator
- Headlight wiring converted to a more efficient relay setup
- New Optima Redtop battery

Of course this car has a few problems of which are very minor. The headliner is sagging due to a crappy instillation. It shouldn't cost more than $100 to have a good upholstery shop re-glue it. Both door panels have small minor tears. The speedometer cable is slowly leaking transmission fluid because of the incorrect o-ring installed where it screws into the transmission. There is a small chip in the front bumper. There are some small scratches on the hood that looks like they can be buffed out.

Overall this is a fantastic and reliable car. It is very quick and just plain fun. I'd give this car a 9 out of a possible 10.

These are a few of the extras I will throw into with the sale:

- Original Bill of Sale from the dealership dated 7-16-1971
- Original window sticker with price and options
- pair of 3-screw SU carbs
- Toyota 4 piston calipers which are a direct bolt on to the front breaks
- Original factory radio
- Original front valance
- Stock emblems
And much more small stuff
