Tornado hauls the special train "Talisman" from Darlington to London Kings Cross on 7th Feb 2009

On Sunday, February 7th Brand New Steam Locomotive, Tornado, hauled the first train of paying passengers from Darlington to Kings Cross. Thousands of people, including me, went to the various points along the route to see this wonderful locomotive steam past. Many, myself included, posted the video footage of their glimpse on YouTube.

By Sunday evening there were clips from the whole length of the journey and I decided to put together a collage of the journey. This film is the result.

What a top chap...!!! I know, like me and many others you've spent many hours trawling thro' You Tube' picking the very best shots (none of the water stops tho') Very well done an excellent compilation - great video!!...... thanks...!!!

Thanks for the compliment. I enjoyed doing it. I'd like to have included water stops but the whole film was made from clips that had been uploaded at the end of the very day the trip happened (actually I think I got a couple the following morning). I then made the compilation but many more clips have probably been added since.

Question for everyone - seeing this made me think how many people made the effort to turn out to watch this special journey - it must have been a phenomenal number.

My guess - 100,000+ ? Anyone else like to hazard a guess.

Great montage, thanks, saves a lot of time searching for clips. Yes by all means use my clip - its the very first one - with the train arrival being announced into Darlington station (as the empty stock arrived from North Road station). Cheers :)
