You're right! well spotted. We use the Traxxas Stampede VXL as a base plateform. We adapt our fuel cell system on it. It works very well.

However, we are working on the Mark 2 of the Hytrax. It will probably be based on a 1/8th race track model to be more robust. It will also be lightest and has better performances. Mark 2 will be out for sale around mid 2013.

The traxxas brushed motors are not designed to be ran with more than a 3000-4000mah pack. Longer run times can result in motor damage. Heatsink and fan could be added for longer run times.

    Hello,

Good comment: motor durability is often understated when increasing the runtime of a truck. We are using Velineon brushless motors from Traxxas. Compared to brushed motors, they can endure longer runs.

How about 150-200 amps at 48 volts and capable of refilling from a 110vac, and/or 240vac out?

I have a car (real...like people get in it) that pulls about 120 amps continuous on the road, but it peaks around 200 amps up very steep hills, and can go up to 550 amps or so at full throttle from a stop. Capacitors would be used for acceleration...but what would a fuel cell+hydrogen tank+refill station thing cost that fits that?

The only thing that will need to be recharge is the Hydrogen tank, no more charging batteries, yes!
