0,85a: Added many short clips from the German Tournament in Berlin 2007. Fine footage in the last part.
Also, in the final version, I will re-speak all voice in one go for better quality.

Thanks to Brian "Sonic Clang" myspace.com/sonicclang and microTonner mictrotonner.com for allowing me to use their music. Also, thanks to Achim, the others of the c-base and Juggerhood of Saar for their clips!

  • This is the first time I've seen it where the players don't stand back up. Is there two versions of this?

  • @medamorth Sorry, you mean? Standing up after counting their "downtime"?

  • @EinUhu I think so. Every time I've seen it played, people stand up after 5(?) stones, after they're hit.

  • @medamorth Yes, that is so. Also here. 5 for normal hit, 8 if hit by a chain.

  • Yoy missed there, the chain is not considered in the category of pompfen, it's on a group appart, also known as the chain man or Kettenmann. The pompfen are only the guys with the swords and/or shields.

  • Well, that is a matter of discussion. In fact, all kinds of "weapons" (which they definitely aren't) are usually named "Pompfen", so generally also the chain is a "Pompfe". Yet when looking at the roots of the term, a "Pompfe" is indeed a padded stick. But to make things easier, "Pompfen" as a general term for the "weapons" of the players do cover the chain. Also, when looking at the roots, the chain also makes the sound "pompf" - so it is correct :)
