What Evolution Is, by Ernst Mayr, is the best book I've found for clearly and concisely explaining what evolution is and how it works.

  • do u believe in goD??

well at first you know i wasnt into god, my life i thought my life was the shiz, i would do so many bad stuff and didnt even care, i love what i did

well look this one day out of nowhere, there was this voice in my head( i believe it was the spirit and it told me "this is the road to hell this is the road to hell" then Jesus Christ appeared to me and helped me understand life better, now im a change person, and i think science is waste of time, This God stuff is no joke!!!

  • No. I do not believe in God. I used to be a very strong Christian and prayed to Jesus regularly every day. This is irrelevant to evolution. Many Christians have no problem with science or evolution.

Science is a waste of time? Tell me that the next time you go see a doctor.

  • evelution is crap

  • It would be better if, before passing summary judgment on the subject, you might at least consult a few science books.

Doing homework on a subject might be more difficult than just spouting silly stuff that has accreted like so much wax between your ears, but it's much more satisfying and much less foolish.

  • Thank for this review!

I´m reading that book at the moment.

I took it out from my local library (in Finland). And ones again some one has shown the creationist method of ´doing science´. Someone had written comments between the lines (like ´that´s been proven wrong´, ´that guy was also a creationist´(from Newton)). I can´t believe these guys are so immature they actually text comment in a biology book. Also showing how much they respect tax payed library services.

Sorry. Had to loose some steam

  • There is a great irony in that creationists want to 'educate' others.

  • And by the way, I agree about the book.

    It`s really well put together.

Such an amazingly multidimensional concept as the evolution (trough natural selection) is presented in very clearly. It also gives basic info about biological disagreements and synthesis in the 20th century and some clues of what are the hot topics of the biology in the future.

Mayr did a long career in the field and in the lab and he´s one of the best authors to present the biology of the 20th century.
