This is a short video of the (somewhat) famous Duluth lift bridge rising, as it routinely does to allow ships (or even boats of any substantial height) to pass underneath.

The Bridge connect Duluth, MN to Minnesota point, a narrow island that stretches into Lake Superior, right across from Superior, WI.

Incidentally, if you love nature, and especially if you love the water, Duluth and the Minnesota North Shore is an absolutely beautiful place for a vacation. As long as you live in anywhere in the US or Canada, it's not a very long flight, the hotels are cheap, the activities are mostly cheap or free, the weather in the Spring through Fall is fantastic and the scenery is stunning. I can't wait to go back.

  • Looks like a train bridge, is it? Ive never up there so idk!

  • I got stuck on it once when it lifted. not that scary.

  • good video, but the effect would be much better without the commentary.

  • luv duluth

  • With that alarm bell, I keep expecting to hear zombies coming...

  • @cathgil Thanks! :)

  • @deepfriedchickenhero i posted a responce in case you wanted to hear what they say before the bridge lifts.

ps. Love duluth and this vid sh76us

  • If you're on the bridge when it needs to lift and you dont leave, I think they blast the horn at you. They wont lift until there's nobody on it

  • I'm a Minnesota native and i live about 90 miles from Duluth. I've seen the bridge go up many times. And Ive also seen ppl getting yelled at for getting to close. Dont even try it.

  • i am wondering if is ok to be on - standing in the middle- when it goes up and also taking vids when the bridge is in the air, since you said you will not fall off, i would think it be nothing more than being on the biggest freight elevator in the world.
