Teams from NSW Police Force, the Australian Defence Force, Australian Federal Police, Fire and Rescue NSW and Corrective Services NSW will compete in the second-annual 'Plane Pull Sydney' at the Richmond RAAF base.
The fastest team to shift the mammoth C-130 Hercules aircraft 10 metres across the tarmac will be awarded the coveted Champions Trophy by NSW Police Commissioner, Andrew Scipione APM.
Last year's champions, the Public Order and Riot Squad, took just 13.99 seconds to complete the challenge.
The event is organised by the Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise funds for Special Olympics NSW.
Each of the 11 police plane pull teams -- comprising officers from specialist units and local area commands -- has won the right to compete in this year's event as a result of their fundraising efforts for the Special Olympics.
"I congratulate the police involved on their fundraising efforts for this extremely worthwhile cause," NSW Police Force Commissioner, Andrew Scipione APM, said.
"The Special Olympics is a tremendous initiative that organises a variety of sporting events for the intellectually disabled at a local, regional, national and international level," Mr Scipione said.
"It's an opportunity for them to improve their fitness, meet new friends, recognise their abilities and build self esteem and belief.
"I'm very proud of the officers who continue to get behind this cause. They have a great sense of community and are always keen to contribute.
"It's a huge effort of which the police officers involved should be very proud," Commissioner Scipione said.
