The Petzl e+LITE is the first full-featured headlamp that you can truly can carry everywhere. It weighs less than 1 ounce (27 g), but features two brightness levels as well as red and white strobe modes. It is also waterproof down to 1 meter!

The Petzl eLITE headlamp is reliable in any environment, can shine up to 4 nights in a row (45 hours) on a single CR2032 lithium battery (widely available for about $1 at most drug stores), and is extremely easy to use and versatile.

A ten year shelf-life? That is one serious light! Wow..I've GOT to get one of those! Seems to have quite a few additional uses as well--I don't like uni-taskers :)
