  • In 1962, I was an avide blues fan. Up til then I'd beleived that any Brit trying to sing the blues was by definition doing a Pat Boone. Then I read an article about Georgie Fame in the New Record Mirror. With some friends I hitched to London and saw him at the Flamingo club.

I was totally knocked out - here was a British band and singer singing real authentic wonderful blues. Great memories - thanks for posting this vid.

  • Georgie...class the Flamingo Club 1964.

  • The great Georgie Fame. Anyone else notice the "stage hands" were wearing white coats? How things have changed.

  • He's got so strong voice that it's forcing the mic to pull off

  • I would shoot the guy who set up that mic stand

  • 2 people don't like to walk their dogs! This is just a brilliant performance....are you kidding me??

  • I was at this show. Thank you for posting.

  • AWESOME! thank you!

    whoooooaaaaaaahhhhh!

  • I'm very impressed. It's amazing how these white guys had such an appreciation for black music. Often artists like The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and others are criticized by african-americans for "stealing' our music. The reality of it is had it not been for these british bands, the blues would probably not have become the worldwide phenomenon that it became. So I, for one, am thankful for these guys.

  • @aleccullen

i can't find that anywhere he was so badass in that song

  • I had no idea Richard Harris had an early career introducing English bands.
