I remember vividly watching this show when I was 16 years old. The date was Feb 6, 1982 when Dave Husted steamrolled four opponents by a total of 224 pins to capture the $131,000 BPAA U.S. Open Championship and his first pro title, a major, no less.
Husted rolled 1,011 for four games, defeating Frank Ellenburg, 269-200, Charlie Tapp, 258-189, Earl Anthony, 229-188, and top-seeded Gil Sliker, 255-180.

I remember back in 1978 I kept score for a pro am at Bradley Bowl in Windsor Locks Coonecticut. Gil Sliker and his buddy Eddie Ressler were pretty stoned on wacky weed. You could tell because they had that glazed look in their eyes. A number of the pros back then would stone out when bowling in the pro am. That was their way of dealing with something that was not too much to their liking.

Husted is one of the best.. I would NOT want to face him on TV. I have also had the pleasure of knowing him, and his family personally. Great people!

Husted beat lefty Anthony. Notice the rack is open at the 1-3 pocket. That gave Husted a big advantage over Anthony. Nevertheless, great bowling David!
