what bad luck in a way that this particular heat was a semi, he could have been the first sub 9.7 sprinter! But you just can't know such things. This is a ridiculous race though, amazing.

@dntmess91 yeah true, if he could perform like this under pressure he would've been a world and possibly Olympic champion already. This year is probably Powell's final chance become world champion, I'm goin for Bolt but it would be nice to see Powell take his first individual gold
-
@phastman1994 yeah thats true, after the first 60M he just doesn't have that top end speed, your right. He is, definitely, no doubt, just needs that consistency
-
@dntmess91 It's not that he gives up, Powell just doesn't have the same top-end speed as Bolt and Gay, his specialty is and always has been his start. But I also think Powell has the potential to go sub 9.7
-
I think Asafa is as quick as Bolt, but where Bolt wins is after the first 60M Powell tends to slow down and give up, if he carries on the speed he produces when he starts and keeps it consistent he could be competing with Bolt properly and overtake Gay, Powell is a 9.6 runner, he just needs to be consistent
-
He could have got into the 9.60's if he bothered those last few strides! Bet he regrets that, would have put him in a whole new league at the time, even now. Still love him, wish him and Gay push further otherwise for the next 5 years it's going to be a boring sport with Bolt so far ahead. Viva la sprinter!
-
Can you imagine what his time would be if he ran all the way through
-
@bhunt16 HAHA! yeah! looks like bolt. but dude, bolt was then still only in 200m. he only started ranning 100m in 2008
-
I just realised he slowed down!
-
@CJThaSavage lol I agree but this race was actually only the heats which is why he eased up, he ran 9.78 (0.0m/s) in the final
