This is video shot with my T1i using an old Pentacon lens and an ebay adapter. Using an older style lens allows you to stop down the aperature on the lens manually to and forces the camera to adjust the ISO to get the appropriate exposure. Perhaps this doesnt qualify as a hack but it's a fun workaround.

  • @m0nst3rg step down (or up) rings

  • it works but need more control

  • I also use an adapter with an old rikenon f1.7 50mm for video, but another free easy way is to set the apurature in manual mode, then slightly disconnect the lens then switch to movie mode!

  • What did u search on ebay to find the adapor?

  • very interesting videos on utilising old lenses. Thanks very much! i was looking into getting the T1. Which older lens you can recommend for it 200-350mm and adaptor for shooting in sport mode of my dogs in play. i am somewhat new to the dslr, but love your idea. cheers!

  • Thanks. This was a very useful video. I have lots of old Pentax Takumar lens. I didn't know that there were adapters for such lens. Please give me more details. Thanks, again.
