“"The Prosecution may call its first witness.”" Once again, the attorney rose.
“"The Prosecution calls Paul Kevin Jonas II to the stand.”" Kevin rises from his seat. Next to him, a beautiful girl whose hand he squeezes lightly before sitting in the questioning stands. She looks sad. This must be Danielle. Nick has talked about her before…...
“"Mr. Jonas. Where were you on the night of July 31, 2009 at approximately 9:00 PM?”"
"“Chicago, Illinois. We were playing a concert."”
“"We? And who’ is 'we'?"” The attorney smirks. She has found a way to destroy me...already.
“"My brothers. Joseph and... and...Nick,"” He whispers Nick'’s name so softly it’s almost inaudible. The lawyer looks around theatrically.
"“Nick? I see your brothers Joseph and Frankie here. Where is Nick?"” You have GOT to be kidding me. Kevin looks at his feet.
“"He'’s not here. He'’s dead."”
"“I see. And would you say that is the fault of Allison Carpenter?”" Art stands up rapidly.
“"Objection, your Honor! The question is leading!”" Judge Matthews rolls her eyes.
"“Overruled,"” She mumbles in boredom, hitting her gavel on the sounding block. Art smiles triumphantly, and sits once again. The lawyer glares at him.
"“The prosecution has no more questions."”
"“Does the defense wish to cross-examine this witness?”"
"“Yes, your honor."”
The trial continues like this. Art asks questions about Mark. For the prosecution, Joe, Denise, Big Rob, a security guard, and Mr. Jonas are all called to the stand.
"“Court adjourned,”" Judge Matthews hits her gavel. "“To be resumed tomorrow morning.”"
