Mellow space tune from this somewhat forgotten uk band off the album 'Altered State Circus'.

Newcastle's Dead Flowers spent the better part of a decade playing the clubs & festivals, developing a hard-won reputation as a solid, energetic and above all psychedelic outfit. Lyrically tripped-out, with Ferank Manseed's poetic raps, and pushed into overdrive with grungy overloaded guitar, their 2nd and 3rd albums "Moontan" and "Altered State Circus" are a testament to one of the most creative and inventive bands of the 80s & 90s. Sadly they've now split, but their releases exude a stoned-awareness most bands would die for.

Lyrics:

I've come to greet, I'm here to cut you down
I hate to preach, I long to make a sound
I still believe, my body has a soul
I live too fast, I long for self control

I live in peace, I need to have my say
Watch my glow increase, each dog will have it's day
I see and hear, your actions are insane
You consume fear, and turn into pain

I try to grasp, the way you think inside
It leaves me freaked, and then you blow my mind
I can't believe, you feel the same as me
I cannot grieve, I've got to make you see.

  • Thanks for this. It's good to get to hear some of this album at last. It sounds a bit softer than the previous ones, which I remember had some powerful psych guitar and fine vocals. Pity they are so rare now.
