Since this years version of the Daytona 500 totally sucked I thought I would bring to you one of the best Daytona 500's ever, which for some reason alot of it isnt on youtube. The 1993 Daytona 500!
Now I dont just call it one of the best because of a Jarrett fan, but it really was just an awesome race.

Hopefully you enjoy!

PS: That fuzz on the screen goes away by the end of part 1 dont worry, its just the beginning of a very old tape.

  • Wish today's races started like this, with like a 10 or 15 minute mini-prerace show, then drop the green flag. Not with this BS "Digger and Friends" junk that has nothing to do with the race itself. I know where FOX is coming from with trying to appeal to younger viewers, but there are better ways than this.

  • i agree, this years daytona 500 was boring. why do they call it the super bowl of nascar when they don't finish it???? it's like the cardnals scoring a touch down and the game ends because of rain. they need to finish the race like the super bowl is or else it's just the world series (of nascar).

  • @Jrl24rules39 Yeah, I think ESPN's coverage is way better.

  • lol, was I the only one who thought that the beginning of the video was going to be a Marines ad?

Anyways, thanks for the upload. Great race

  • @arenasnow Yeah, Elliott Sadler has had bad luck and if not bad luck, none at all. Ward Burton got sick and frustrated with the series when all the young guys came in racing him hard. Ward Burton liked the series before but it just got frustrating. All poor Trevor Bayne got off his win was a nasty infection or mosquito bite(hope it won't be serious) But hopefully Bayne will get some mileage, NASCAR sorely needs a new star. Johnson, Edwards, Busch have the star power now.

  • @Jrl24rules39 In those days, they appealed to the younger race fans with comic books and stuff, I remember seeing a Davey Allison comic book on ebay one time for about $2.00

  • @vidEvWill He's certainly more deserving than the alternative Elliott Sadler. Had Sadler won that race he would have had a far longer career than he really deserved a la Cope or M. Waltrip. What's strange is how Ward Burton got extremely little mileage from his 500 win.

  • The Ned Jarrett interview with Richard Petty was surprisingly low-key, especially compared to the ridiculous hype today. However, the "A Few Good Men" opening gave an air of the cheesiness that would take over NASCAR 5-10 years later. It's still better than CBS's lame attempt to advertise "Survivor" in the 2000 Pepsi 400 opening.

  • Mike Joy was tiny!

  • @nascarandamdrag3 I know, I still have the race on VHS and still haven't watch the start and also I have Super Bowl XLII on VHS too and cherish it for a lot of reasons. The only regret about Super Bowl XLIII is that I did not recorded it on VHS and it's the most watched event ever. I haven't seen a good 500 since like 2007. The 2010 race was marred by the pothole.

  • That congressman that gave the command was either drunk, clueless or both...why else would they stick the mics in yer face if it wasnt time to say the four most famous words....still better than pothole-gate today

  • Jeff Gordon's First Daytona & The First Daytona 500 Without Richard Petty!!!!!
