I discovered this indefatigable man quite by accident and have developed a great reverence for him. He was a true hero and this vid clip does him and those who were with him justice. I am almost reduced to tears sometimes by the sadness of it all, the hardship and indescribable loss throughout. A shame that Tom Crean died from such a trifling thing.

I think his most admirable quality was how he humbly blended in to everyday life after undertaking such incredible adventures and demonstrating such incredible bravery and comradery. He hardly ever mentioned his travels on returing to annascaul which is incredible. If somebody were to achieve such things nowadays they would be writing books and appearing on chat shows for the rest of their lives. Not Tom Crean. A true hero. Makes me proud to be a kerryman.

Crean is a legend. A model of Irish masculinity that the country could do with now-a-days. Job to do; get on with it, keeping your spirits up is your business and in your own interest.
