1 million Strong Against Prop 16
with 1 millionth the budget of PG&E! Comment, Share! Facebook: http://bit.ly/NoProp16FanPg

Twitter: http://twitter.com/noonprop16

More info: http://noonprop16.blogspot.com

We decided to take one millionth the budget of PG&E's expensive, drab, one-way mass-media distortion campaign, and create a cheap, hopefully humorous, person-to-person social media conversation, offering a real-person discussion that no corporation can fake.

Prop 16 Two-Thirds Requirement for Local Public Electricity Providers Act up for vote on June 8 2010 -- PG&E calls it the "Taxpayers Right to Vote Act" in their commercials -- was created by California's biggest utility company to trick voters into make a friggin' constitutional amendment against communities forming their own power companies -- requiring a 2/3 majority just to use a city-purchased pencil to write a note about it!

Share, discuss, argue... this is a discussion campaign, not the one-way blast PG&E is hitting you over the head with.

"Prop 16" "No On Prop 16" "Proposition 16" "No On Proposition 16" "meg whitman" "steve poizner" monopoly "clean energy" "green energy" "free market" competition california politics primary june 8th funnel cake Mashup mash-up ben zolno

  • I will absolutely vote no on Prop. 16. However, I honestly believe that nuclear power is the cleanest form of energy we have. It produces no greenhouse gases and costs a small fraction as much as solar and wind power. Please stop the anti-nuclear rhetoric. It's COAL that we want to stop! And monopolies of course. Thanks for making this video, and good luck stopping this terrible deceptive campaign!

  • @califomia Right on - if Prop 16 passes, we won't even get to choose nuclear energy for our communities unless we get 2/3rds of the people to vote for it - and look what the 2/3rds vote has done for CA so far! Help us get the word out to your friends, family, enemies... Vote NO on Prop 16!

  • I am voting no on 16 of course. I want Community Choice Aggregation (green/ renewable/ in the public interest) power for Oakland, not continued cram-down of PG&E's high rates, very low green power, and high shareholder dividends instead of community reinvestment.

  • @greenbeanery Right on! Help us spread the word - share this video with your friends and enemies! Actually, send your enemies to us and we'll take care of them. >:)

  • i think you should've provided more details on the proposition's actual wording rather than rely on feel-good catch-phrases and the same kind of gloss-over tactics that the big-money opponents usually use. its 'probably' a worthy cause you've got going here, but like some of the people on camera, i felt like i was being rushed into making a decision based on too little actual data. empowering government vs. empowering corporations? not an easy decision, and the devil is in the details.

  • @eklektro Also, wanted to show appreciation for not just being a sucker for some quick editing and humor. the purpose is to make you go, "hm... i need to find out more." then you do, and maybe even watch some more videos that make you laugh or cry or whatever.

  • Nuclear power does produce greenhouse gases - the fuel must be mined. It also costs way more than solar and wind, if you include all the costs to build and operate the plant, and deal with the waste. bit dot ly slash bpNomX

Also much more expensive in insurance, and you can't run a power plant without insurance. No private insurance company is willing to insure nuclear plants because a disaster could cost so much. Plus: no way to dispose of the waste.

    No on Nuclear!

  • Other states - WATCH THIS VIDEO - this is a fight you'll be having soon. Ben's approach, with more than $30 funding, is the best way to attack energy titans.

  • This is the biggest farce we have ever had rammed down our throats...over and over again. Thankfully, I learned early on about this scam. On the face of their commercials, it seems very logical...yes, I too want the right to vote. What a wonderful spin they've put on it! The reality is that if this passes, our "right to vote" will only drown any hope of an alternative source of power (read competition for PG&E)! I wonder if we will see any commercials for a "NO" vote on Prop 16...I hope so!

  • @Divacoolstyle go off grid

  • @Divacoolstyle Right on! Tell your friends, share this video, and make sure people know to VOTE this June! We're up against a forest of glossy mailers from PG&E.
