Telecommunications Expert Andy Kauffman talks about T1 cable, Shielded Twisted Pair cable, and CAT 5 cable as methods of extending the T1 Smart jack (also know as the DEMARC). He also talks about where to get T1 cable, the T1 Jack Requirements, and the jack wiring diagram.

These clips are taken from live training seminars conducted by Andrew Kauffman, between 1998 and 2000. Mr. Kauffman currently provides custom training classes in digital telephony though out North America and also provides "Target Client" contract sales services for network access equipment manufactures. He also accepts contract assignments as a "Product Evangelist" for equipment clients and is available for wide area network design and analysis consulting projects for enterprise and government clients.

  • Where did you buy DEMARC ?

  • @HillsBoyZ >>> You cannot "buy" a DEMARC. It is a name for the point where the telephones company’s responsibility for the T1 circuit (or any circuit or line) ends, and the subscriber’s responsibility begins. Depending on the type of circuit or line the DEMARC would be a 66 block, RJ-11 jack, Smart Jack, etc. For safety’s sake, always use a qualified telecommunications technician to service your equipment or circuits. This will prevent damage to your equipment or the network.
